로맨스를 가장한 삶에 관한 이야기.

삶의 유한함을 이야기할 때 가장 많이 나오는 주제가 '시한부'의 삶이다. 이 영화에서는 선택적인 시한부였다. 곧 죽음을 앞둔 삶. 눈 앞에 다가와야 삶의 덧없음과 소중함이 와 닿기 때문에 시한부라는 요소는 자주 등장하는 소재인 것 같다. 그래서 진부하기도 했는데, 그럴만한 부분들을 빠르게 넘어가는 전개여서 꽤 괜찮게 관람했다.

특히 명장면이 많은 영화였다. 빨간 드레스를 입었을 때 이런 옷을 입으려면 자신감이 있는 태도가 중요하다는 부분과, 휠체어를 타고 함께 춤을 추던 장면. 그리고 마지막에 윌의 편지 부분이 퍽 감동스러웠다. 멋진 장면들이 나오니까 진부하게 느껴지던 부분도 희석된다.

꼭 최후의 결말을 선택했어야만 했나 하는 아쉬움이 들기도 했다. 그렇지만 온 몸이 멀쩡했을 때도 충분히 버킷리스트라 불리는 것들을 즐기며 멋졌던 삶이 있었기에 그의 선택을 한편으론 이해할 수 있었다.

미 비포 유와 에프터 유, 원작 소설은 언젠가는 읽어보고싶다.
